EMDR Bridging the Gap: From Protocol to Practice Part 2: Phases 3 through 7

Program Description:

EMDR Therapists often emerge from Basic Trainings and sadly never execute on the technique immediately with patients. Then after a period of time clinicians lose their understanding of the technique and mismanage its application. Patients then say EMDR didn’t help them, but when drilled down we find out that the EMDR therapist wasn’t proficient with standard protocols thereby failing the patient. This course is designed to give a full comprehensive and proficient understanding of how to apply the 8-phase protocol to most Patient issues. In this 2nd Part of the training, we will cover Phases Three through Six of the EMDR Standard Protocol in extensive detail. The remaining Phases Seven and Eight will be covered in subsequent trainings. This program does not supplement any Basic Trainings; It’s intended as a bridging of the gap between training and effective application.

Goals & Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply Phases Three through Six within two to three sessions following the initial session, in many cases.
  2. Demonstrate proper selection and execution of Phase Three on Reprocessing Memory Targets discovered in Phase One, to best serve the patient, and keep EMDR reprocessing on track.
  3. Describe coherently the ins and outs of Phases Three through Six of EMDR reprocessing, to effectively feel confident and coherent with Trauma Reprocessing.

Program Description:

This course equips participants with innovative tools to address attachment wounds in clients, blending theories from Psychodrama and Role-theory with EMDR techniques, particularly the use of metaphors in reprocessing treatment. It delves into foundational concepts such as imprinting, influenced by the studies of Konrad Lorenz, and attachment theories from Bowlby, enriching the practitioner's approach to emotional healing.

You will explore the Identity Matrix within Psychodrama, focusing on child development phases, and learn how EMDR can be effectively used to reprocess traumas impacting attachment. The course also covers the strategic implementation and therapeutic use of metaphors, enhancing the reprocessing of deep-seated emotional issues.

Goals & Objectives:

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the impact of Lorenz’ theory of imprinting with animals and how this can affect human being as well.
  2. Describe Bowlby’s attachment theory.
