Program Description:
EMDR Therapists often emerge from Basic Trainings and sadly never execute on the technique immediately with patients. Then after a period of time clinicians lose their understanding of the technique and mismanage its application. Patients then say EMDR didn’t help them, but when drilled down we find out that the EMDR therapist wasn’t proficient with standard protocols thereby failing the patient. This course is designed to give a full comprehensive and proficient understanding of how to apply the 8-phase protocol to most Patient issues. In this training, we will cover Phase One (history and treatment plan development) and Two (preparation) in extensive detail. The remaining Phases will be covered in subsequent trainings. This program does not supplement any Basic Trainings; it’s intended as a bridging of the gap between training and effective application.
Goals & Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe how Phases One and Two can be utilized immediately in a first session with patients.
- Demonstrate proper selection of Negative Cognitions and Memory Targets in Phase Two to best serve the patient and keep EMDR on track.
- Apply Positive EMDR Resourcing from Phase 2 to first and second sessions before beginning Trauma Reprocessing.
