Program Description:
Unfortunately, many people have had the sad experience of going through the same kind of traumatic experiences more than once. In some countries, where urban violence is especially rampant, some people have been subjected to assaults, muggings or even rapes more times than they would like to admit. Others have been subjected to sexual abuse.
The Museum Protocol incorporates EMDR Therapy in a way that makes it possible to work on repeated experiences in a shorter amount of time. Although not useful for all clients because of the intensity of the work, there are many people who may benefit from the “short cut” of working on all of these memories in a more summarized manner. This workshop will explain the EMDR protocol, how to implement the phases, the importance of a previous triage in order to be sure that clients who would not benefit from it are excluded, and finally a case study which illustrates its use.
Goals & Objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify in what circumstances this protocol would be helpful.
- Participants will be able to identify what population should not use this protocol.
- Participants will be able to implement its usage.
