
Applying professional ethics to work with couples and families requires clinicians to address many challenging issues. These include using the context of couple and family work as a frame to establish and maintaining clinical competence; planning how to appropriately obtain consent and maintain clinical boundaries; applying sound practices to clinical record management; and utilizing best practices to address predictable legal and regulatory issues. Clinical case vignettes and reflective questions will help participants analyze and predict ethical challenges, as well creating and selecting best practice strategies for use in their work with couples and families. Candidates for board certification in couple and family psychology will also find the content useful in preparation for the oral examination.
