Tony Madrid, Ph.D.

Tony Madrid, Ph.D. earned his Ph.D. in psychology from Washington State University. He then did a Fellowship in Medical Psychology at UCSF and worked as a child psychologist at Sonoma County Mental Health.

Dr. Madrid was on California’s Board of Psychology for four years and was an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco (1976-1997). Dr. Madrid has been in private practice for 45 years in Sonoma County, California. He currently works as a psychologist at Russian River Counselors in Monte Rio, California.

Dr. Madrid has published over twenty papers and chapters in books on the topic of Bonding Therapy. He was awarded the Hilgard award for his article, Helping children with asthma using Bonding Therapy.

In 2010, Dr. Madrid published his book The Mother and Child Reunion: Repairing the Broken Bond, in which he discusses the causes of Mother-Infant Bonding problems, psychological issues related to mother-child bonding and attachment, and effective therapeutic treatments he has successfully used clinically with mothers.
