Program Description:

Using up-to-date research this program will provide an overview of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), and indicators and effects of IPV on children, parenting and coparenting. We will discuss considerations for evaluating diverse populations; and best practices for screening and identification of the presence, context and nature of IPV. We will explore strategies for developing recommendations for parenting plans and effective treatment options to address the impact of the IPV on family members.

Goals & Objectives:

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the patterns of violence, including coercive control
  2. Describe the various impacts of IPV on adults, children, parenting, and coparenting
  3. Name three considerations when dealing with diverse populations
  4. Identify an assessment process and parenting plan considerations if IPV is alleged or screened in
  5. Identify evidence-based treatments for recovery from violence
