Program Description:
According to the CDC, anxiety is the most common mental health disorder, affecting roughly 40 million adults in the United States.
Every therapist will routinely have clients come into their office with high anxiety, distressing panic, or disruptive phobias, and most therapists will say they are equipped to treat these issues; yet, many clinicians lack specialized and advanced training for anxiety, panic, and phobias, which often leaves clients merely gaining tools to manage symptoms but not experiencing the depth of resolution that is actually possible.
This workshop is designed to help therapists deepen their clinical skills and increase their confidence in the treatment of anxiety, panic, and phobias by using The Anxiety Reset Protocol (ARP), a simple, streamlined, three-step framework that can be used on its own or during EMDR Phase 2 preparation and resourcing. ARP equips clients with a clear understanding of their nervous system and practical skills to interrupt automatic stress responses, fostering a sense of control that diffuses anxiety, stops panic attacks, strengthens tolerance for phobic fear, and enables effective EMDR processing for clients with anxiety, panic, and phobias.
The protocol enhances clients’ readiness for trauma work, and reduces the dysregulation that can make EMDR less effective for clients with heightened fear responses.
Goals & Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe what makes cycles of anxiety, panic, and phobias so persistent using a neurobiological framework
- Apply simple and specific ways to interrupt cycles of anxiety, panic, and phobias to give clients more control over diffusing anxiety
- Perform specific skills for nervous system regulation that give clients a greater sense of control over managing anxiety before starting EMDR
